6V packs on digitals...

Not true. Problem is Futaba wants to err on the safe side. Futaba Gyro's are to be used with 4 cell or 4.8 volts only so any servo Futaba believes you will be using with the Gyro should only have 4 cells. 
Many of Futaba's newer digitals are now showing ratings at 6 volt. Personally I've used just about every piece of Futaba equipment produced in the last 13 years with 5 cell packs, including older and newer digitals without a problem.
