6V packs servo safe or not

Unregulated 6V is fine on JR gear. I cant speak for other brands. I'm sure Tony or someone can. I assume your using nicads or nimh batteries. You mentioned a Duralite regulator. If using Duralite packs, which are 7.4V, that is probably not a good idea. Some servos wont like 7.4V for long.
On your regulator placement, just plug it between the switch and rx, then you can charge w/o taking off the canopy.

So, is it safe to use an unregulated 6v pack with any quality receiver and servos? I have always used the Duralite regulator, but would like to get rid of it so I can quick charge directly through the switch without taking the canopy off and disconnecting the battery.

I was told that I could do that anyway depending on how it was wired, but I set it up exactly as the instruction say and am not able to quick charge through the jack.

Thanks
Anthony

Have used lots of Airtronics 735/732's on 6v with no problems. Also, had
some 751's on six volts. Usually if the mfg specs the servo on 6v then it is
no problem using 6v. I believe Futaba was the only one who used to advise
against 6v use.
