These planes were designed with different thinking about the materials and the 
wing/stabs.  Vipers are all balsa/foam.  Also the Vipers use a different wing.  
There wing appears to have more chord.  I though mine flew slower as a result 
of the wing, and gave me a little more time between manuvers.  Additional the 
wing has more Square inches and the plane is really light.  This resulted in a 
lighter wing loading.

So whether it is better depends on your flying preferences.  My Viper IIm flew 
402 better than I did.
