To all:
Thanks again. The group from District 1 makes the time and effort required to put on a contest a pleasure. It was good to see everyone finally enjoying a sun filled day versus dodging rain drops like we have all year. The 20 foot off the deck full scale show was the icing on the cake. I'm certain we'll do it again next year, maybe even make it a 2 day affair, maybe. If you have an opinion/preference for a 1 day or 2 day event, email me privately. I'm open for any and all suggestions, again, email me privately.
Ed Miller.

The BDS Challenge went off without a hitch on the rescheduled date of 6
September after being rained out the previous weekend. The weather was perfect
and the BDS field is unquestionably one of the best flying sites I have seen in
the northeast. HUGE thanks to Ed Miller and the BDS Squadron for organizing
  and hosting the event (twice!!).

Competition was very tight in Advanced and Masters, and Ed managed to get 4
rounds in for all contestants. For those who did not make the event, you might
want to seriously consider adding to your calendar for next year (yes Ed, we
want to come back next year).

And for those that stayed a bit late, the local cropduster (Agwagon bipe) and
an Aeronca put on an imprompt airshow - very LOW level passes over the roads,
behind the buildings, around trees, follow the leader, etc - and the Aeronca
even made a quick landing and takeoff.

Thanks again to the BDS for hosting a great event.

Well it was bound to happen, the soggy year of 2003 has finally succeeded in
POSTPONING a District 1 pattern contest that was scheduled for today, Monday
September 1st. For all of you that made the drive I thank you for your support.
It was obvious to me as I left my home today at 5:30am for the field that the
weather gods would have their way and we were not going to get the BDS Pattern
Challenge in today and I'm sure all of you brave and supportive contestants and
BDS club members felt the same. HOWEVER, the BDS club president, Thomas
Milidantri and BDS Board, after hearing of the nearly 30 contestants that showed
up this morning at the BDS field in support of this event, has made the decision
the BDS PATTERN CHALLENGE WILL HAVE A RAIN DATE of this Saturday, September 6th,
2003. My sincere thanks to the BDS Board and BDS members for their tremendous
support. So lets make the most of our second chance and all get together this
Saturday, September 6th !!!!!!!!! Please pass on the word !!!!!!!!!
  Thanks again..............Ed Miller.
