Nope, not again...
I think pattern is a great tool for teaching pilots a lot about flying. The short time that I spent practicing has taught me a lot. It is so much more fun trying to learn to rudder correct than it is learning to hover.....I was teaching a young kid at our field the other day. I never really taught the use of the rudder until I started flying pattern. I just figured they would start using it someday, now I am trying to get people to mess around with it early in their training.
The planes are incredible to boot. My 33 % Cap felt like crap after flying that Focus around....but the IMAC planes made a better everyday flyer, and they won out for my situation. As I have mentioned before, out of 350 plus members at my local club, not a single guy flies pattern. I did receive several emails from guys off this list inviting me to come check out their clubs (which I appreciated), but with out an everyday practice partner, it would have been tough, for me anyway....so for me, IMAC wins (6 IMAC pilots at my local field).
I truly hope someone or something sparks an interest in people for pattern flying. As per other comments on here, I am not the only one that feels this way.
