Folks,

Here is what I have had good luck with:

Ship FedEx Ground....take it to the local FedEx Office.

Mark "Fragile" and "Top Load Only" in big bold letters on each side of the
box.

Pack well with bubble wrap, newspaper, etc. Don't pack it too tight so that
a depression in the box transfers the force directly to the airplane. The
packing must be loose with a penetration zone surrounding the contents.

For a whole completed pattern plane, I use a double weight cardboard box
that is designed so that the ends are doubled up. This box is about 75" x
12" x 18"

I have shipped completed pattern airplanes to CA from AL for $35 including
sufficient insurance.

So far...knock on wood...FedEX hasn't let me down.
