Bigger Issues (one more time)

>First, NSRCA is a SIG of AMA, so, yes, we are part of AMA.

Not exactly. NSRCA is a Special Interest Group recognized by AMA to
represent the pattern community at large. AMA does not control the
NSRCA budget, NSRCA has it's own Constitution and By-Laws, and
conducts its own elections. AMA couldn't wave its magic wand and
dissolve NSRCA, it doesn't have the authority (it could choose to
remove NSRCA from its SIG status though but that's about it).

NSRCA as an organization is functionally affiliated with AMA, it is
not organizationally a part of AMA. There's a huge difference,
especially when you look at it from a legal perspective. They are
separate organizations that try to work together towards a common
goal (or at least that's the general idea).

>What you are
>really saying is that NSRCA wants total control of the rules making process,
>especially in the AMA events.

Actually only in the AMA pattern classes. FAI is its own entity
separate from the AMA and for US involvement is (IMHO) best served by
the AMA (for the time being).

>I think everyone on this list agrees with
>that! I now appears that AMA may be more willing than in past years to at
>least talk about it.

I'm sure that's true (to what degree is really the issue). It's
important to remember that AMA exists to support the membership,
including the competition modeler, not the other way around. When
that support wanes to an unacceptably low level things have to
change. NSRCA is not subordinate to AMA. NSRCA has options, in fact
more so than some seem to be willing to recognize.

>The BIG problem is that a large bureaucratic organization never wants to
>relinquish power!

Agreed!

>Hopefully, we will be able to make strides in this direction in the next few
>years...

I hope so too (but what is the plan if NSRCA isn't able to do so?).
