Bigger Issues

Gene:

OK. Yes, these are really big problems, and the AMA is going to be forced
to deal with them one way or the other. The fact that they want to reduce
costs due to competition may work to our benefit in the long run. I have
suggested several things, including creating AMA Sport licenses and
Competition licenses..

The big issue I see is that AMA is taking a defensive position in regards to
membership. They need to be pro-active and create change within the
organization that will draw new members, as well as outside funds for AMA.

I have spoken with one person who knew of at least one Multi-million dollar
grant that could have been in AMA's future..... Progressive thinking like
this is what is needed now. Unless we get some new blood into the Executive
Council, I don't see much change in AMA's future.

"interference" from the AMA. The 3 years, the rejection by the EC of the
Annex proposal, the general attitude of "my way or the highway". I
personally don't respond well that demeanor, must be the Marine background.

other external influence. I'll quit when it stops being fun. It's just that
these external influences are making it LESS fun.
