MessageI concur... Especially with the aroma... Morning coffee brewing.. Airplane/hanger talk and fresh runups with after run oil being cleared. We are starting to sound like addicts..

Myself and several buddies have used Mobile One all synthetic motor oil
for after run for several years. No gum up problems, no damage to
any brand pumps/regulators/seals that I'm aware of. There is a
distinctive aroma of Mobile One upon first start in the morning -
Ahhh - smells like a pattern contest. <G>

I have read that some people use Mobile 1 or Valvoline 10W-30 for after run. I've also heard that over time, that practice can cause the engine to gum up. Does any one know anything about this? How do you clean a gummed up engine?

      Sorry, I meant Bruce....

Bruce, Allen Baum...the guy at Boca gave me a 1oz bottle of that 'Midas Touch Air Power Oil'. The label says it is a petroleum distillate. In addition, there is some horrible looking crap that has formed or grown inside on the bottom of the bottle......uhhh, don't think I am gonna use this stuff.....WAIT!! I just found some weeds over here!

Personally, I think after run oil is a waste of time and money. If you fly often enough, the properties in the fuel will keep your engine in check, provided you do not have lean runs. I believe that the fuels have gotten better and cleaner and have all the properties an engine needs to stay lubricated. I have not had any major problems from not using after run oil.

A lot of discussion has been going on about bearings, bearing life and after run philosophy.

Has anyone use the Midas Touch Air Power oil from Boca Bearing for after run or fuel treatment? If so what were the results?

          See ya,
