Ed,

I have a Partner, but the engineering looks identical.

1.  No plans.  My Partner has razor scribes that just mark the surface of
the skin for aileron and elevator.  They were difficult to see.  Hold yours
up to good light and gently bend the TE so see if they exist.  If not, then
I guess you have to get direction from somebody who has the dimensions of
the control surfaces on a Smaragd.

2. Maybe 0 degrees down thrust?  The Partner has right thrust, probably 2
1/2 degrees, built into the mold.

3. don't know.

4. I used an MK tailwheel, and it looks to be designed for that because the
platform is a perfect fit.

5. I use Pacer 560 canopy glue or RC-56 to fasten canopies.  You can fill
the gaps between the fuse and the canopy, mask off the perimiter of the
canopy, and spray over the perimeter.  There is an article due for the May
K-factor on how to do this, but for the most part, it is straightforward.
Just mask off the area you do not want painted.  Primer and paint will stick
to the canopy if you sand it with 600.

I'm in the middle of building my Partner.  I scratched my head for a while,
called Troy, and then visited the PL site before attempting each new task.
It looks like the best order is to:
1. find the holes and fasten canopy and chin piece.
2. firewall
3. landing gear
4. pipe tunnel cover
5. stab tube, wing tube (or vice versa, but make sure your stab and wing is
square to your fin).

Got my kit in today.  Am excited about it but am wondering about the
"tricks"

1)  Is there a set of plans, or are the ail and elev scribed, or what are
the sizes?
2)  The little book I got says to set engine at 0 degrees thrust, is this
correct?
3)  Build with the rudder tab or not?
4)  Tail wheel preferences, CH 2" to Tetra tailwheel etc.
5)  What glue to use for the canopy(I always have problems here) and do you
fill in the gaps on the canopy?
