Temptation wheel PANTS

The Temptaion CF landing gear is narrow at the point where I want to drill
through for the wheel pant attachment screws. I am afraid to drill TWO
holes, side by side, through the carbon fiber for fear of perforating and
weakening the gear.  What have others done? Also, has anyone changed out
their Temptation gear for another brand? If so, which one?
