Hi
I have extensively used both .60 and 140 Bolly pipes on my OS Hanno and 140 now for more than four years without any of the problems mentioned - I have a nice quite and light set-up - I love the Bolly pipes.

Hi folks,
Just a point of clarification - the 480, 590 and 565 are mufflers only, not tuned pipes, so comparing them to the ES pipe isn't really apples to apples. The EQ140R would be a more appropriate comparison, as it is properly baffled for an rpm boost. Different products for a different applications - the mufflers were developed when popular opinion was that there was more than enough power available in the 140 2Cs and that the boost wasn't needed. Now that the current crop of F3A kits are getting HUGE, the tuned pipe boost is back in vogue.
BTW, we're working with the gent who posted about the Bolly pipes "leaking" and "gaining weight" to sort out what's up. While they do "weep" for the first few flights till the resin stabilizes, and they can be ruined if they get cooked (as can all c/f pipes) it's the first we've heard of anything like this, so the research continues. If any other Bolly pipe/muffler users have had this problem, would you please contact me directly.
Thanks!

Subject: RE: 3M Mintor 170 questions
Hi Eric,
I've had the Bolly 480, 590, and 565. The 565 worked the best on the ST2300. However, each of these pipes was easily outperformed by the ES. The 3M carbon pipe has the first baffle in the same location as the ES 2-cycle pipe I have and it looks very similar in overall dimensions. If I remember correctly, the first baffles of all the Bolly pipes were a lot closer to the neck opening than the ES or 3M pipes. The 3M carbon pipe has an AL neck insert, and its note is similar to an Asano pipe I've heard run on Donny Wright's OS RX. The Greve pipe has a longer first baffle dimension, so you'll need to run a shorter header length to get the same tuning as the ES/OS type of pipes. With the 17 x 13, you'll need all the power your can muster mister!

I noted a 2" difference in the 1st baffle position in the Bolly pipe to the OS and OS clones. Do you have tuning distances for the 17 x 13 APC and the Bolly pipe, by any chance??
Regards,
Eric.
