Here is a BAD news/GOOD news situation!

The Sayre airport no longer exists. The town has sold it for housing
development. it is not quite that simple, but you get the picture.

Friday, Bb Noll, Jim Quinn, and Art Riegal went hunting for a new site.
What they came up with was a new/old site.
I have been told that there are some details to be worked out, but the
overwhelming odds are that we wil be returning to the Greene airport in
Greene,NY.

You oldtimers may remember this facility. It is the same place we were
for our 24th, 25th, and 26th years: mtwenty years ago, before moving to
Sayre. Now, before you start wondering if it is less of a facility, let
me tell you that the only reason for the change was a conflict with a
dirt bike track that had been constructed on the site 20 years ago, and
we could not co-exist with the extreme noise they were making all weekend
long.

Well, that facility is long gone, and we will have the entire runway
available. This is an active airport, just like Sayre was, so we may have
to shut down on occassion for full scale aircraft again. Sun should be no
problem!

They have a resturant on site, but I don't know there intentions yet. I
will keep the group posted as new details become available.

Where is Greene??

Take 17, 81, or 88 into Binghamton. Follow 81 to the Maain street exit,
just north of the city. Get on route 12 north toward Norwich. Greene is
about 20 miles north, and the airport is on the right, before you get
into town.

For me, Sayre was about 40 minutes due west. Greene is about 45 minutes
north east. Those of you coming from the SE will find it a bit closer,
from the NE, an hour or so closer. From the west about an hour farther.

Bob will be sending out details on hotels and camping as soon as things
are finalized, and I'll let you know here.
