Wayne,

I don't know what current thinking is regarding idle bars, but way back when
we abandoned using them because of the possibility that if one of them came
off the glow plug it would do damage to the engine.  I've seen what has
happened to an engine when some bearing balls got loose inside during a run.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like cheap insurance to avoid them, even if
there is a cost in performance.
