Subject: Pocono PA Pattern Contest - June 28-29

  Northeast pattern enthusists,

The Pocono Pattern Contest, in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (Pennsylvania), is just a few weeks away, on June 28th-29th. Check-in begins at 8:30 AM. Pilots meeting will be at 9:30 AM. Flying will start at around 10:00 AM due to the early morning sun. We shouldn't have any problem getting in three rounds on Saturday, and two more on Sunday. We will be running two flight lines.

Special Notice: For the Sportsman class (401) only, the AMA weight limit will be increased to 15-pounds. I don't want any noisy giants, though I've gotten some special requests from people who want to try pattern but only have slightly overweight sport-scale ARF models. The more the marrier, and if we can encourage new interest in the sport then the better will be for everyone.

Registration is $30.00 for both days. Food concessions will be on hand with the usual BBQ menu and beverages gallor (plenty of bottled water).

Info regarding contest can be found at www.nsrca.org under the Contest Calendar sub-head. A link there can be found under District One to download the flyer. You can also visit www.ramac.org for information about this years contest, plus see photos and coverage of the event last year.

Directions (from the west): Route 80 East to Exit 309, Route 209 North. Take Route 209N, 7 Bridge Road, 1.3 miles and make a RIGHT onto Buttermilk Falls Road. Follow 0.4 miles to T-intersection of River Road. Make LEFT onto River Road. Bare RIGHT to stay on River Road at the Y-intersection of Hollow Road. Enter the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, and follow River Road 3.1 miles to Hialeah Airpark on RIGHT.

Directions (from the east): Route 80 West through the Delaware Water Gap. Bridge toll is $1.25. From Toll Gate, go 0.2 miles to Exit 310, Route 611 South. On overpass, go 0.2 miles to make 2nd RIGHT. At Stop sign, cross Broad Street onto River Road (to Shawnee). Follow River Road 3.5 miles to Y-intersection of Hollow Road.
