I usually pull to the 45 degree upline half way
between the end of the box and the center of the box.
Once I hit the center of the box, I push to the 45
degree downline and fly that line until I hit the same
altitude I was flying before I started the maneuver. 
I don't think the height is important, but the
centering of the peak is definitely important.
