Subject: Re: Servo question
Where is the difference between Digital and just Coreless precision servos....
#1 is Holding power...In a looping segment the holding power is needed to insure the ailerons don't blow back. This keeps your loop tracking straight....
#2 Centering as the servo wears and the pots become worn...the digital servo will continue to center better than the coreless std servo.
#3 Pot life Because of #2 you can fly much longer on a set servo before you will feel the difference in Pot wear.
#4 As the pots wear they not only change center but can change endpoints as well...The digital servo analyzes the pot position and samples it more often taking an average to hit the right spot....So Precision in all areas not just center are vastly improved.
#5 Power to move and power to return the servo to neutral...In a snap the model will be much crisper using a digital counterpart...as the servo's power and precision can help stop the snaps better.
The holding knife edge is perhaps a poor example.....but the digital servo will take less stick pressure to hold that knife edge as the servo is not blowing back as much on the digital....So in reality its like a reducing the amount of throw needed for a certain task..which is better on the linkage and better on the servo as well as better on the pilot.
Our old std Coreless servo were good....but look at their centers after 50 flights or 100 flights or even 150...they are not centering well at all...no matter what brand servo you have. The digital servos will keep centering well for a much longer time...2-3 times longer in my experience.
