I just rebuilt #1 I have 3 and used a metal stamp kit and punched a number
1,2,3 in each so I can tell the difference. Anyway for what it is worth, I
just replaced the ring in #1 and it is tricky too. I found it worked to
insert the piston/ring combo onto the crank, then insert the sleeve, but it
is a very delicate procedure... Don't get in a hurry. it will go, and once
it slips in you will say, Wow!
I thought this might help when re- assembling yours...
At least that was my experience.
I now have # 1 in the box as a back up, #3 in the primary bird, # 2 in the
back up....
