I use the Great Planes .60 sized retracts. They are light but durable
plastic, their struts seem to last forever (2 rebends in 300 flights),
they come with axles and wheel locks. The best part is they have two
opposed set screws on the axle (inside the retract). They only provide
one set screw, but another can be picked up at the hardware store. Using
two has eliminated struts every coming loose.
These are available from Tower for only $25.
For a few $$ more the MK retracts thru Central have very smooth action. We
have a set, but they're not installed in anything yet so I can't comment
on their lifecycle.
