PL Partner flight characteristics

Hi all
A good friend of mine would like to hear from anyone who has seen or flown a
PL Partner in regards to its flight performance.
Apparently the wing on this model is quite thick in comparison to other
current generation models. Does this mean a very strong engine
is required to haul this model around the sky (FAI schedules) given the size
of the fuselage and wing thickness.
We know Quique can fly it very well but he can fly anything well.
Any comments would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Peter
