The name came from the backs of their necks being red from working in
the sun. For some reason, people like my grandfather, who was a truck
farmer in upstate New York was not called a redneck. The southern
people with red necks generally like NASCAR, bib overalls, chewing
tobacco/snuff, fried chicken and big breasted women. Hmmm, I like 3
out of 5, so I might be a redneck.
