Temptation building question (painting)

Dennis,
If you didn't use primer or white paint, how did you handle
the seamlines? Did you just choose a color scheme that
hides all the seams, or did you prime the seams and then paint
them white and blend it into the non-painted areas? (Seems like
the whites wouldn't match then).
