F3D Worlds

Pylon has seen a slight decline over the past few years but not to the
extent pattern has. Believe it or not, the Lanier Predator ARF has
helped new racers participate in the entry level class at a relatively
low price ($119 versus $750 Focus ARF). The soon-to-be released Great
Planes Viper will also help. Just like in pattern, the racers in the
faster classes favor the composite ($) planes normally not allowed in
the entry level class. Participation in the faster classes seems to
vary from district to district. Here in Denver we have a monthly race
and will see 3-5 in the entry level class, 8-15 in the next class up,
and 3-5 in the fastest class. F3D is not normally flown anywhere in the
US except for during the team trials. The rules are very different.
NMPRA is still going strong. It's newsletter is a mirror image of the
K-Factor. For anyone interested, here are some pylon related links:

Does anyone have a feel for the overall participation levels that F3D
and pylon racing have? I don't know anyone that does it locally
(Chicago). How many flyers are in the NMPRA? I know that in the 70"s it
was huge but I don't see very much talk about it anymore. Thanks, Mike
