HVLP spray guns

The gun from Harbor freight is a "Central Pneumatic" HVLP detail gun. It looks like a copy of the Sata. Item #46719. The cost is $60 . A little more if shipping is needed. Most large cities have a store. Allow some extra time if you have a store near you. Lots of stuff to look at.

If i painted more often then i would invest in a Sata....however i only paint about once to twice a year so it will be quite a while before i wear this gun out. It does a great job when adjusted correctly for model use. I have been setting pressure at 30 PSI and the spray pattern as narrow as possible. Material flow adjustment for PPG Concept is about 1 1/2 turns out from fully closed. It doesn't take much.

The gun that Buddy described from Advance looks good also.

Back in the 80's i spent $150 on a Binks detail gun and found that it was not worth it for the small amount of painting that i did. I also use a Paashe VL airbrush for small work and love it!!

Well, if you change your mind about the Sata, here's a link that has the best prices
on them.....the Sata Mini Jet SR has a 7" wide fan, which is the widest of the smaller guns
that I know of...........Well, last time I checked a bunch of places, they had the best prices,
so do a little research before I spend your money ;-)

You can also check www.harborfreight.com their HVLP stuff seem to be doing well
for the people I know. I think you can get a small gun for around $60ish including the
regulator. I believe they ship for free for most items over $50.

Another place to look is E-Bay. I've seen a lot of retailers advertise there and you
should be able to find a few online sellers there.

If you're getting a smaller gun, and it will be your only gun, look for a 1.0 mm tip. Anything
smaller may not pass some primers through. The paint/primer Radio South sells will work
great.

I am looking for a moderatly priced HVLP spray gun to paint PPG Concept on my pattern fuse. I have looked at the Sata mini gun, but at +$200, it is more than I want to spend. Is there a cheaper gun that can give good paint finishes?

Thanks - Steve
