Advanced sequence ?

Eric:

You are correct, as far as I can tell. The spin length, including the line after the spin is up to the competitor, with the exception that the line after the spin must be long enough for the judge to establish wing position to properly judge the proper amount of rotation of the spin.

When this schedule was submitted (7/99) the spin description was not written in detail. There had been, and were, existing down-lines after spins with 1/4 loop with 1/2 roll exits. I have seen some odd interpretations about how long the down-line should be and when the 1/2 roll should be performed.

From a judging point of view there is no AMA rule book specification of how long the down-line has to be. I have not seen a rule book specification of any required horizontal line length other than an exit line. Seeing as how it is the last maneuver in the box the only real limit is getting it done before you leave the box. :-)

Is there an AMA rule book description that I have missed that gives a better judging guideline???

  Regards,

  Eric.

Also, I'd add follow this link and read the maneuver descriptions. It is more than good reading if it has been a while......

It is a 2 1/2 turn spin, push to horizontal, then half roll to upright.

Wow, that is a diffrent interpretation of how I have been flying it. On the NSRCA call sheet the manuever is described as " 2 1/2 turn spin with a half roll out". Silly me I have been practicing a 2 1/2 turn spin with an established downline then half roll in the downline followed by more downline (hope I started real high) then an upright exit. Am I to understand that the actual manuever is "2 1/2 turn spin exit inverted half roll out" to landing?

Does there exist a set of drawings for these manuevers somewhere? My old AMA rule book does not have them.

I believe that it does not matter, when coming out of the spin you need to pause going down, then level the plane (90 deg) to a horizontal flight, then pause (straight inverted flight) and then roll. The pause shall not be larger than the radius of the downline to horizontal transition but it has to be there unlike in the Immelman

"2 1/2 turn spin exit inverted half roll out" to landing?" = correct, but better announce that landing
