Top Hinging Ailerons and Elevators

Hi

I would also like some info, especially on the aerodynamic advantage/disadvantage/effect of top hinged vs. centre hinged control surfaces. I usually build an integral hinge (Kevlar/pealply) during the sheeting process of my wings & stabs.

Regards

Subject: Top Hinging Ailerons and Elevators

  Guys,

I'm building the CA Models Widebody 60/90, and it calls for hinging the ailerons and elevators from the top, as opposed to the standard middle hinge, double bevel type.

I've never done this before, and am a bit curious about the effects of hinging the surfaces this way, and also the actual steps, especially the location and direction of the hinge points themselves. These are foam wings, in case that wasn't clear.

Can you guys help me out here, with maybe some general instructions, or a link to them?

  Thanks in advance,
  Steve
