He said some pattern guys treated him poorly, but
the IMAC guys showered him with affection, so he
chose to go with the latter group.

It is a perfectly reasonable choice to make, I guess.
Fly with the people you have fun flying with.  But
it sure did come across as a knock on pattern to
me.
