I think that at the onset of a local contest, upon signing up, there should
be an extra line to "check-off" wether or not you are a certified judge.
All judging assignments should tried to be filled with certified judges. I
know there is still a reason to use "non-certified" judges, as younger
pilots need experience in judging sportsman (we all had to get experience
some how). However, considering the HUGE emphasis we as a society placed on
the IMPORTANCE of getting certified and all the known benefits of having
certified judges, that an effort to use certified judges should be placed.
I prefer the use of pilots/contestants judging, versus the local dedicated
set of judges. It is very generous, kind, and convienent for the extra guy
or gal to come out and judge, but I feel it is more important to get
certified judges, or at least more knowledgable contests to judge. That
said, I have never CD'd an event, and DO APPRECIATE the huge effort the CDs
undertake to get contests going!!!!!
In my humble opinion.

Hah....I replaced my 1/2 square loop w/ 1/2 roll up,
with an immelman. One judge noticed but wasnt sure so
scored it anyway. If I cant remember my schedule
theres no way I will remember everyone elses. Wasnt
there a rule once where the pilots caller had to call
maneuvers loud enough for the judges to hear?
But then there was the time I was judging and an FAI
pilot came out and didnt use a caller.....
