Valves are the same.  I have the popportunity to measure in both engines.  
Here is:

Intake valve is a little less 5/8" or 19/32".  In milimeters is 15 mm
Exhaust valve is a little over 1/2" or 17/32".  In milimeters is 13 mm

Therefore, the gain in power is due "possible" to better sealing in the 
crankshaft that increase the supercharge efficiency, the small holes in the 
piston and very possible timing change in the crankshaft.
