K-Factor Pattern an invisible group

No no, your survey is great-- but I don't think we should be too frustrated
that every NSRCA member didn't turn in "the big survey". There were lots of
reasons (all cussed and discussed on the list), of which the daunting size
and effort was probably one factor.
A 20-25% return on a survey is pretty good on most accounts. Those that
wanted to participate had the opportunity, those that didn't have that much
passion, or concern to make the effort-- well maybe we are better off not
having their random noise (I kinda think that in politics as well).
And yes, I did fill out the NSRCA survey, did have to go by stamps and did
mail it in.
Back to your survey. I applaud your efforts in doing something to understand
why so few are interested in pattern. Many of us fuss about the diminishing
numbers, no new starters, etc. but you are doing something that may provide
some insight, give us some intellegence so we can target efforts and change
the perceptions. Like you said, the results are the results. And there is
no point asking current pattern flyers, you must ask the people that aren't
pattern flyers!

Steve - a good point - is my survey distressing? I mean no offense to
anyone with asking what I am. I chose RCU because I think it is important
for CURRENT Pattern folks to get at least SOME voice from outside the
circle.
What do you think about what you see over there?

It tells me Bob's survey has one question with 5 choices and a submit
button, not 40 questions that take an hour to read and answer, then find the
stamps and discover you don't have any of the new ones, which requires a
trip to the post office to buy before you can mail.

For those intrested Bob's survey at RCU has already had more responses
than the rules change survey and it has only been running a few days! Does
that tell you something?
