I've used in the past the .58 oz glass cloth offered by Dan Parsons out in
Albuquerque.  Took less filler to fill the grain than the other stuff offered
by SIG, etc.
and came out substantially lighter, (opinion.)  I know this doesn't answer your
question about carbon fiber, (little experience) but it may help in the future.
