If you're in the market for digital scales, check out this:
http://www.stores.ebay.com/id=4352192
The scales I prefer are called '13 lb/ 6 kg stainless kitchen/deli
scales' and sell for about $50 plus shipping. The quoted accuracy is
very good for our purposes.
They also periodically have stainless calibration weights on E-Bay
(under 'scales and balances'). I got a set of three 2500 gm weights for
less than $20, including shipping. BTW, my weights were the 'official'
calibration weights used at the Nats. They showed that the AMA digital
scales weighed 30 to 40 gm too heavy at 5 kg; that's more than an ounce
in error.
