Focus On Snow

I fly a lot on skis and generally don't like to fly contest planes below
about 45 degrees. I usually recommend something easy to land because flight
times are usually limited by the loss of feeling in the fingers not fuel.
You also want a plane that is easy to assemble and start since both can be
difficult in winter conditions. Pay attention to you batteries since cold is
not nice to them either. Ideally, set up the plane before it gets real cold
because you don't want to be fiddling with needles in cold weather and DON'T
SPILL FUEL ON YOUR HANDS!
You might try the women's little cotton stretch gloves these are tight
enough you can feel the sticks but warmer than bare hands. If you have big
hands then these may not fit and you can experiment with cutting of finger
tips of cheap ski gloves. Also, some guys buy/make a big TX glove that
covers the whole TX but they tend to be awkward at best.
Skis will add drag and make trim changes so make sure your model is
adequately powered. I use an old Kyosho Aurum, with some Al skis that I have
had for years and currently a TT .46. I can fit it in my van with the wing
on and the engine after some careful tuning starts pretty easily and
landings are uneventful. Also flew a CG Extra 300 with a YS 1.20 on skis and
that also worked very well. If something happened to the Aurum I would by
another similar sized ARF for this purpose.
