Involving the pattern community as a whole.

Its great that we can toss around ideas and hash out some of our likes and
dislikes on this forum. Schedule design and implementation is a hard job
and requires dedicated people to even attempt it. As we have seen from the
remarks on the list, the system in use currently is far from perfect but it
does get a job done. The annex system has warts of its own, which are also
being pointed out. At first I was pretty much in agreement of the annex
system but I am having second thoughts. I tend to believe the system that
we have is adequate for the purpose but could have some improvements. I
would personally like to see the proposed schedules (in each cycle) earlier
in the selection process, then members would have a chance to vote on them
or "none of the above" and then a fine tuning on problem schedules could be
done and a final panel of schedules voted on.

Please let us not get into a serious dialogue on "merging" with IMAC. The
two disciplines are just too different for that to be advantageous.

My thoughts only

Dan Curtis
