I sure has been quite lately-- I agree.<br>
I used something close to this for many years. Better than a hard-mount
as far as pounding the airframe is concerned.<br>

Like you, I didn't use a nose ring. Nose Rings are tough on a Focus.<br>

I had two problems with my setup. 1st-- it allowed the engine to shift
off-angle at least a degree, maybe more, with hard power applied. This
is with a 160-size engine. I could tighten it up to reduce the shift,
but then I lost dampening. 2nd-- it really didn't have enough
dampening, especially when I had it tightened, and I kept losing servos
from vibration.<br>

So I finally bit the bullet and put in a Budd Engineering soft mount,
with a nose ring 2 years ago. Nose ring is on extension arm from the
firewall. Not optimal and heavy, but better as to both dampening and
axis shift.<br>

I never see anything here and ran across the attached drawing of the 'Poor
Mans Soft Mount' I am using in my Option-120 rev-C airplane. I now have a
season of trouble free service with it. The grommets are 40 dr and the
spacers are probably a little shorter than what is shown on the drawing. The
grommets need to be pinched a little to prevent any relative movement which
wares the rubber (actually neoprene). The rev-B airplane initially used a
Dave Brown mount attached with 4 grommets without a nose ring support.
Is anyone out there?
