The Plettenberg motor in my Impact was mounted like that... except no
nose ring, of course. Each of the three mounting holes in the firewall had
rubber grommets... a washer placed on both sides of the grommet and a bolt
screwed through them into the back of the motor. I'm not sure that it actually
needed that, but it worked fine, and had no problems whatsoever.
I now have a
> season of trouble free service with it. The grommets are 40 dr and the
> spacers are probably a little shorter than what is shown on the drawing. The
> grommets need to be pinched a little to prevent any relative movement which
> wares the rubber (actually neoprene). The rev-B airplane initially used a
> Dave Brown mount attached with 4 grommets without a nose ring support.
> Is anyone out there?
> Jim
