Well, that's a good question... I have no answer for that. From what I have gathered so far, they
didn't really have that much support for this event, and was offered in this manner. Jeff is telling me
that next year it will be a club event.... Your guess is as good as mine.
We just have to decide wether we want to do it or not, and if we do, pick a date and make
sure we wil have enough people to cover the cost...

Ok, here is my question. If there are several members of the Wenatchee club that would like to participate then why don’t they try to get the club to have this as one of their sanctioned events? Those in the club that want to fly can, and as a club event then the fee could be waived as they would make any proceeds after expenses.
At our event it is a club event but as you know there are only a few that participate. Just my thoughts and not knowing their bylaws then I may be way off base.
My personal opinion is that $300.00 is too much for the attendance we have been getting. Not trying to be a Grinch or anything. J

I was also a little set back by the fee requirement rather than just donating the remainder of the contest receipts, however the cost, even $35 is a small part of the total weekend expense of $300+ for lodging, beer, meals, beer, gasoline and more beer. I suspect they have a blanket policy regarding field use.
I have commitments the 2nd and 4th weekends in June so count me in for May or the first weekend in June.
Yes the weather can be iffy early in the summer. We could get some good wind practice maybe even rain or it could be sunny and calm, kind of like any other contest. What Rex didn't mention is how convenient the location is in east Wenatchee. Easy to get to, and lodging is also available in east Wenatchee; for us folks that don't stay on site.

Folks I've been in contact with Jeff Bellinger, the president of the Wenatchee club...We can have a contest at their site anywhere from late May to early June.June 13-14 is scheduled for Molalla. That leaves Late May or the first weekend inJune.Ok, here's the lowdown on using their site. Since this contest would not be a Wenatcheeclub activity, we would have to pay a rental fee for the use of their site. The fee for two daysis $300. That means we would have to get enough flyers to not only pay that fee, but payfor awards, scoring costs, etc.... Which brings the total to around $350. As long as we have enough entries, this wouldn't be a problem. You do the math... it would take around $25 for entryfor 15 pilots to pay for the fee. I'd hate to get into the situation that we schedule a contest therethen only have 8 pilots show up. I need a consensus of what all of you want to do. This is a verynice flying site and Jeff tells me that he and a few of the club members want to fly in this contest. He plans on getting his CD license. Then he could hold the contest at that site and it would be a clubactivity and the site use fee would be waved. Jeff also indicated that the club would like to keep holdingcontests there for years to come. This is somewhat like what has happened at Redmond. We held onecontest there and was immediately invited to continue with contests there. This could be a good thing. As you may or may not know, we have lost our normally first contest at Sumner, Wa. They have lost useof that flying site. This is a good opportunity to get another contest. However, we need to supportthis idea if it is to work. The wenatchee site has RV sites available for $15/day, including water and power.Dry camping is available for $5/daySend me your thoughts and we'll see what everyone wants to do... Also, we need to decide onwhich weekend to hold the contest. Thanks Rex
