I think it is a good idea. If the weather and the wind cooperates, this is a really great site to fly at and they have great facilities for RV hookups, parking, bathrooms and a place to eat and cook indoors.

This probably will not be a popular suggestion, but as a way of mitigating risk of covering expenses, the entry fee could be increased (35 x 10 fliers sounds like it would cover the costs) in the event that the club does not want to sponsor the event

Since Molalla is 6/13-14, I vote for late May (is Memorial Day weekend a bad idea ?)

Folks I've been in contact with Jeff Bellinger, the president of the Wenatchee club...We can have a contest at their site anywhere from late May to early June.June 13-14 is scheduled for Molalla. That leaves Late May or the first weekend inJune.Ok, here's the lowdown on using their site. Since this contest would not be a Wenatcheeclub activity, we would have to pay a rental fee for the use of their site. The fee for two daysis $300. That means we would have to get enough flyers to not only pay that fee, but payfor awards, scoring costs, etc.... Which brings the total to around $350. As long as we have enough entries, this wouldn't be a problem. You do the math... it would take around $25 for entryfor 15 pilots to pay for the fee. I'd hate to get into the situation that we schedule a contest therethen only have 8 pilots show up. I need a consensus of what all of you want to do. This is a verynice flying site and Jeff tells me that he and a few of the club members want to fly in this contest. He plans on getting his CD license. Then he could hold the contest at that site and it would be a clubactivity and the site use fee would be waved. Jeff also indicated that the club would like to keep holdingcontests there for years to come. This is somewhat like what has happened at Redmond. We held onecontest there and was immediately invited to continue with contests there. This could be a good thing. As you may or may not know, we have lost our normally first contest at Sumner, Wa. They have lost useof that flying site. This is a good opportunity to get another contest. However, we need to supportthis idea if it is to work. The wenatchee site has RV sites available for $15/day, including water and power.Dry camping is available for $5/daySend me your thoughts and we'll see what everyone wants to do... Also, we need to decide onwhich weekend to hold the contest.
