[NSRCA-dist7] 8th Annual Wild West Pattern Showdown

The 8th Annual Wild West Pattern Showdown was held last weekend at the Bear Mountain Flyers Field at Arvin, CA.

Nineteen pilots competed for 6 rounds, with nearly perfect weather (light wind and temps in the mid-70's), and no significant issues (there was a mid-air but both planes landed, one with NO discernible damage, the other likely will need a new wing). This was the 5th contest of the D7 season as evidenced by many pilots already flying the new sequences well.

A Fantastic BBQ dinner at the field Saturday night was enjoyed by all, featuring Smoked Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Old Settlers Beans, Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, Couscus Salad side dishes. Desserts were Rum Cake (flammable version), Italian Lemon Riccota Cake, Banana Sour Cream Coffee Cake, Chocolate Pudding Torte, Pineapple Cheesecake, and Caramel  Bars.

Kudos to Dale Olstinski for prepping and cooking the meat dishes, and Nancy for making the side dishes and 3 of the desserts (all home-made from scratch). Sherry Banducci made the cheesecake, and Randy Brunette's wife made the Caramel Bars.

Honestly, the food was simply World Class (especially the brisket and the Lemon Cake). It was just unbelievable! Everyone ate WAY too much, and then went back for more.
