<div>On the Scribe: I've attached my current BOM for the scribe. $2500 for the full system (I eat the extra $200 some odd) and shipping usually costs a little over $125 via UPS for the two cases. I also recommend (but do not supply) a $35-$70 Uninterruptible
Power Supply for the network router (helps prevent delays in the contest if you lose power unexpectedly). NSRCA will still support the district with a $500 matching gift, so you only need to raise $2K. The small case for the scoring devices, network router,
backup batteries, etc. (pretty much everything you need to run the contest, you just won't have a printer or a scoreboard) is 21.65x 16.53 x 10.44 inches outside dimensions. The large case for the printer and scoreboard display and scoreboard stand for clamping
on a table is 24.41 x 20.47 x 10.83. Loaner system -- interesting concept... Couple of options there: 1. AMA HQ has a system, you could ask Tony Stillman if you can borrow it.; 2. Harry Ells' club in Canada has a small system (no scoreboard, only 4 scribe
devices, etc.) that you could probably convince him to bring out to a contest... 3. The Israeli sporting commission has ordered a system and I have it ready to ship, but I have wait for the official PO process, etc. which is seemingly as slow as you would
expect any government process to be... I could potentially send you that one temporarily, but would actually prefer not to do that, the boxes these cases come in have a limited useful number of shipments to them... </div>

<div>My experience has been the learning curve is more about people getting the system set up and knowing the network interference bugaboos to avoid than a problem for judges in the chair. For the people that are really worried about it, you can break it down
to effectively 2 buttons you need to worry about: -0.5 and next maneuver. If you can manage a transmitter and switches for conditions, etc. you can manage this little game controller pretty quickly.</div>

<p>At the District one meeting we had a lot of conversation about the E-Scribe system and this time we had a lot more interest. We even had a couple of guys who may volunteer to manage it, which was our biggest hurdle. Can you send me the particulars of the
equipment and costs? How much equipment is involved and the size? Also, I know this is a stretch, do you have a loaner system? Some of our pilots haven't seen the system and would like to try it to see how much work is involved in the actual set up and running
of the system at a contest.</p>
<p>Several pilots were concerned about the learning curve. One idea that came up is to create a home training system both for E-scribe and judging using a standard flight video and coordinate a controller or simulated controller. The student watches a video
of several maneuvers and enters scores based on what they see. The video would then continue giving a break down of each of the maneuvers noting errors and downgrades to give the student a comparison of what should have been scored. </p>
