Thanks Ed:

BTW, I can confirm that the LV will NOT have a Classic pattern contest in 2016. The interest is just not there and it was a one-time reunion back in 2013.

Now I need to hear from as many D1 members as possible to show the LV that we have enough interest to run a successful 2 day AMA contest in June.

Thanks all!

While I think our club leadership may change for 2016, Andy has a lot of say in wether the LV offers an AMA pattern contest in 2016, or not. We have a large membership with diverse needs, so the event calendar is likely to be reviewed carefully for the new year. Why am I bringing this up to you in D1?
>>
>> If you think you would like to have a standard, 2-day, AMA pattern contest next June and would support it by coming out to fly and judge, please do let Andy know next time you see him. We had 18 pre-registered this year before a near total rain-out reduced participation to 7. We knew the week after Pocono was a reach, but wanted to keep on the schedule to be ready for a time when Pocono is no more. Not sure if that time is now, but we of the LV would need a strong show of support from the pattern community to keep a contest on the 2016 schedule, and this would need to be now as the LV decides their calendar well before D1 does so at the WRAM show. We would also have to work with the incoming officers in the fall if D1 intends to support an eastern PA contest next June (when the sun is high and the corn is low) by showing them how important it is to the region overall for RC. OTOH, if you are not likely to come out and fly at the LV next June, please also let us know so we don’t take the weekend away from LV members by hosting a contest that few will come to. It’s all good, we want to do the right thing next year. Please help Andy and me make a good decision here.

>> Finally, I would like to say that we now have a terrific and active DVP in Anthony Romano. Anthony is a pattern hero who spent last Wednesday afternoon with me on Site 3 calling 2 rounds so I could get back in the groove and come home with a small win. This is a D1 win (ok 5th place) but it was a D1 effort that shows we can do great stuff when working together to improve our flying. Anthony has a lot of great ideas for next year, we may not get to all of them, but I think we can support a lot of what he has in mind to make D1 a fun and competitive group again, albeit a small one. Please lets get behind him and help him so he doesn’t burn out before his time. We do need an active & engaged DVP. Now is the time. Please show you appreciation to Anthony Romano and help him help us make next season a turn-around for D1!
