However, I believe the top hat changed at some point and we just forgot. Probably the reason is because we could add more complex elements in the horizontal portion. I wonder now if we took it from FAI-f3a. Some of the named maneuvers are not descript, like "Comet", "Et", and even "Bunt". It would avoid lengthy write-ups each time sequences are developed.

maneuver be square, equal horizontal and vertical. I have
searched for the maneuver descriptions that include that the
horizontal segment of any top hat must be inverted and I I was
unable to find that reference (everyone agrees on this point). I
believe that there is also a reference to the line lengths on a
center top hat maneuver being equal. Pretty sure that they have
always been so in the past. If anyone can find that document that
discusses top hats please let me know.</div>

downgrades for each maneuver type for future sequence committees
