Jerry,<br>
<br>
Thanks for the clarification.<br>
<br>
I agree that any AMA or NSRCA member that feels strongly about a
rule should submit a change proposal. In the past the NSRCA rules
committee has proposed rule changes in areas the committee members
felt should be addressed. This year non-committee members have put
forth some good proposals. That hasn't always happened in the past.<br>
<br>
Thank you for taking on the committee. I know how much fun it is.<br>

Hi John,
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">The submittal to the Contest Board will include for
each proposal a recommendation, indicating either support or
non-support, and the logic behind the recommendation.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">Re: the committee not generating any of its own
proposals isn't due to any new NSRCA Policy, rather it’s
reflective of the time critically of the task at hand and my not
wanting to place any additional work demands on the committee
beyond that necessary to complete the immediate task.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">My opinion, but not necessarily the opinion of the
NSRCA Officers (I haven’t spoken with any of them about this),
is that if a NSRCA member (or AMA member) feels strongly about
an idea for a rule proposal - then they should consider
submitting it themselves. There’s no need for a committee to
get involved in writing the proposal. The NSRCA Rules proposal
Committee should 1) remain focused on reviewing and commenting
on proposals submitted by individuals and 2) act as a sounding
board for individuals wanting NSRCA endorsement of their
proposal to the AMA Contest Board. Individuals on the NSRCA
Rules Proposal Committee can submit their own proposals (like
anyone else), but it's up to the individual, not the committee
to create the proposal.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">There may be a time in the future where there’s
several similar proposals submitted to solve a common problem,
where none quite hit the mark, but combining selected elements
of the several may make sense. If that happens I think we can
put together a “consolidation” approach to resolving those
situations but there’s no need (or time) to do that now. I’m
not a big believer in solving problems that don’t exist, yet
keeping an eye open to the possibility.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">

<div class="">Thx, Jerry</div>

Congratulations on your new task. <br class="">
A couple of questions regarding your committee.<br
class="">
<br class="">
Will the letter to the contest board indicate NSRCA
support or non-support of each submitted proposal in
addition to comments and suggestions?<br class="">
<br class="">
Does the fact that the committee is not generating any
of its own proposals indicate a new policy of the NSRCA
or is it simply that it is very late in the cycle to get
started?<br class="">
<br class="">
Thanks<br class="">

<div class="">All,</div>
<div class=""><br class="">

<div class="">I was recently appointed Chairman of the
NSRCA Rules Proposal Committee and tasked with
creating an ad-hoc committee to review and comment
on the proposals that have been formally submitted
to the AMA RC Aerobatics Contest Board. John Fuqua
and Robert Green have generously agreed to join me
on the NSRCA Rules Proposal Committee. Their email
addresses are listed below.</div>

<div class="">There are currently 7 proposals under
review; they can be found at: <a
moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://www.modelaircraft.org/events/ruleproposals/rcaero.aspx"
class="">http://www.modelaircraft.org/events/ruleproposals/rcaero.aspx</a>.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">There is a March 15th submittal deadline
for new proposals to AMA so there isn’t sufficient
time to conduct a NSRCA member survey and analyze
the data. There is time for interested members to
read the proposals and share their thoughts with the
Committee members directly via email, or indirectly
on this discussion list. Either way I would request
that you provide your comments soon as the Committee
will need a few days to summarize its thoughts
before submitting them to the AMA RC Aerobatics
Contest Board.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">One point that I want to emphasize is
that the NSRCA Rules Proposal Committee is <u
class="">not</u> tasked with taking suggestions
for rules proposals from the general NSRCA
Membership and creating new proposals for submittal
to AMA based on that input. The Committee's tasking
is to:</div>
<div class="">
<div class="">
<ol class="">
<li class="">Review proposals that have been
submitted to AMA.</li>
<li class="">Receive input from the general
NSRCA membership on the submitted proposals.</li>
<li class="">Provide comment/suggestions to the
RC Aerobatics Contest Board as the official
voice of NSRCA.</li>
</ol>
</div>
</div>
<div class="">If you are interested in submitting a
proposal to AMA, instructions may be found here: <a
moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://www.modelaircraft.org/events/ruleproposals.aspx#2018-2019"
class="">http://www.modelaircraft.org/events/ruleproposals.aspx#2018-2019</a>.
However, I would recommend that you consider
contacting your District’s representative on the AMA
RC Aerobatics Contest Board in advance of submitting
the proposal so you can benefit from their thoughts
and perspective. I would also politely request that
you send me a copy of your proposal so the NSRCA
Rules Proposal Committee can study it and be able to
provide the Contest Board with timely input on the
proposal. As I mentioned earlier, AMA’s deadline
for new proposal submittals is March 15th, so please
don’t delay!</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">Of course, everyone who is an AMA member
has the option to send their inputs directly to the
RC Aerobatics Contest Board. If you are interested
in doing so, here is the contact info for the AMA RC
Aerobatics Contest Board <a moz-do-not-send="true"
