normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Here is a suggestion:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Have a few contests each
year in your district that use Saturday’s for the actual contest, get in as
many rounds in as you wish. One possibility would be to fly 4 rounds and then
have a one round fly-off\finals of the top three competitors in each class. It
might make it a little more interesting everyone battling for a position to
make the finals.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Have a Saturday night
banquet\barbecue with winner announcements\trophy’s and a raffle while everyone
is still in attendance. For clubs that allow alcohol, bring your growler, if
not, offer up an ice cream social.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Facilitate Sunday’s as
pattern clinics, coaching, practicing and judging with a light lunch. One
option would be to take the score analysis of a competitor and work on the top
three maneuver’s loosing points and work with a coach and a judge on those. Use
two lines for this so you have as much exposure as possible to make it worth
staying for. We have the field for the weekend so stay until everyone has had
enough. Most of us are out to the field on Sundays practicing anyway; why
not hang out with a bunch of pattern guys.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> All of the
logistics can be worked out Friday and Saturday to assign a coach\judge to a
competitor who wishes to stay over on Sunday; for those who do not wish to stay
can save a night’s motel cost.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">This can also be a judge
training opportunity for those who wish to hone their judging skills by sitting
with a more experienced judge while each class has a demo flight. Before each
flight, instruction on how each maneuver should be
scored…etc <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Ask for volunteers of
some of the better pilots from Masters and FAI to coach and judge; perhaps pool
some extra gas money together for them. I for one would welcome some one on one
while getting scored.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;line-height:
normal"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">This approach might
offer up interest to those struggling or just need some tweaking and have an
opportunity to work with other competitors. For those struggling in lower
classes it offers them an excellent opportunity to get some coaching and
improve. This also breaks up the weekend and offers a little more,
something different. Pattern dudes hanging out with pattern dudes, practicing
and improving. That’s what it’s all about anyway.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
