<div dir="ltr">I'm sure that came up when it started to be required for people to put license #'s on their cars too. "Don't be ridiculous, the law breakers who are speeding, holding up banks and driving away, etc. etc. won't put numbers on their cars to make
them easier to identify!"
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Of course, since NOT having the number is itself breaking the law, and is easier to catch than when you are actively engaging in the bad behavior that led to the perceived need for registration, it leads to the bad actors complying, which, in turn, makes
it easier to catch them when they do actively engage in their improper behavior.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Will everyone register? Of course not.</div>
<div>Will the "rogues" who refused to join the AMA in the first place register? Maybe, force of law has a little more weight than a voluntary organization like the AMA.</div>
<div>Will this help with the core problem (which was never terrorism if you look at the history of the NPRM process, etc)? I suspect not a whole lot. Let it play out through the courts, I suspect the AMA will take their case with the FAA out of suspension
to active over this.</div>
<div>Will this help catch the guys who do stupid shit? Perhaps, depends on how accurate my argument in the second paragraph above is...</div>

</div>
<div>Should you quit the hobby over this? That's your choice. My choice is to stay in the hobby I love</div>
<div>Should you quit the AMA over this? Emphatically, NO. The AMA must become the NRA of RC flying with the FAA as they did with the FCC in the pre-2.4GHz days.</div>
<div>Should you, in fact, encourage your rogue friends to join the AMA over this? Emphatically, YES. It is only by membership numbers that the FAA can be influenced, and, more importantly, victories in congress that give us some leg to stand on with the FAA
like the modernization act of 2012.</div>

not having unique identification numbers for each model that are assigned to an owner, it sets up the scenario for anyone else to use your number on their model and cause virtually unlimited problems for you, anywhere, anytime. To help reduce this risk, at
the very least, the numbers would have to be provided by the FAA with some sort of marking, holography, whatever to at least raise the difficulty of identity theft from zero to something above zero. You can apparently use a felt marker to scribble your own
numbers as it stands now. <u></u><u></u></span></p>
