I was one of the judges in the first unknown. Jason was sixed or seventh in that round. Everyone was flying “normally” entering the box left to right into the wind. Jason came up and indicated that he would take off into the wind but then go immediately into the sequence down wind. And that is what he did. First time I had ever seen anybody do that. Good strategy. There was no spin in the sequence. Gave him a lot more time between some of the maneuvers and made the point rolls not so rushed and helped with centering.
