When I was flying your combo, I had the brake on for takeoff and esc activation. As soon as I lifted off, I’d hit the switch we always used to use for retracts which put me in my “Flight Condition”. My flight condition was pretty much the same as my takeoff condition except the throttle trim was moved up to the point where it would just barely have the prop turning over. At that point, the brake is inactive and you’ll have instant throttle response with your stick. I also had a “Brake Condition” assigned to a switch so I could have the brake active for certain maneuvers like the stall with the 4-point down.
