<p>This is very sad news. At least Lamar is not in pain anymore.</p>

<div>Very sad to hear. I got to know Lamar on the D3 pattern circuit after I returned to pattern in the 2003-2004 timeframe. I got to know him a lot better through Gary Courtney. Lamar never failed to help us fly better, constantly critiquing us, and if we listened, we flew better. He also helped us keep our planes in the air. After a prop broke in the air on my Aggressor, and the front end of the plane exploded, he took it home and repaired it like new, even though he hadn't built the plane in the first place. He was just like that. He found a field near his home in Decatur, AL, where we could fly early in the mornings in the heat of summer, and get in all of the practice and critiquing we could stand. He didn't have a lot, but he was always willing to share what he had.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>He lived in constant agony from his long time back injury, and was on medication that would probably kill most of us. Doctors and surgeons kept trying to help him, but unfortunately, nothing seemed to help He finally had to stop flying when he couldn't bend his neck enough to watch the plane without a lot of pain. He always intended to return to pattern, but as things worsened, he stopped returning calls, and dropped out of sight. Fortunately, his long time friend and business partner, Jerry Stebbins, kept us informed from time to time. </div>

<div>Lamar will be missed, a lot. He was one of the good guys.</div>
