used about all the combinations of glass cloth, polyester resin, epoxy resin,
K&amp;B clear, urethane furniture finish, nitrate dope, silkspan, silk cloth,
silray, etc. over the years. I think the easiest, lightest, and safest is
silkspan and nitrate dope with talcum powder mixed in the dope as a filler on
the latter coats. I usually wait a week or so after the last coat of dope to
apply primer and epoxy paint to allow the dope solvents to gas out. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

It's not quite the article you're looking for, but Don Ramsey has an<br>
excellent DVD on applying a lightweight painted finish to wings. I vaguely<br>
remember the Speights article and I think Don's methods are similar, if not<br>
identical. They involve lightweight 3/4 oz (or less) glass cloth and thinned<br>
epoxy. I can't imagine a lighter method for a painted wing. If that's what<br>
you have in mind, I'd suggest you pick up a copy of Don's DVD. I think<br>
they're available on his Barnstormer web site.<br>

Quite some years ago Roy Speights wrote an article on how to apply a<br>
lightweight painted finish to wings. I would like a copy of the article but<br>
don't know where to start looking. It may have been in the K-Factor during<br>
his vice presidency in 1989 &amp; 90 but I no longer have those issues.<br>
