Rex put me up to the first article, it was my way of paying forward for all of his help and support. The guy basically orchestrated a pattern contest in my own backyard to help me and a couple others get started in Pattern. The next article in the series is about the "Fun 'Pattern' Contest" I held for our club members in August. The subliminal message is the contest represents my opinion of how we should grow the sport of pattern. The heck with the box and judge certifications. Get some club members together and hold a contest using non-flying club members as judges. Involve everybody you can! We only flew three (Sportsman) rounds, that was enough for everybody to have a lot of fun. I doubt any of the participants go on the road to other pattern contests like I have, or for that matter buy a 2M pattern plane, but a couple of them have said after their experience they are likely to enter our formally sanctioned pattern contest next May. </font><a name="_MailAutoSig"></a></p>
